WANTED:  Lasting friendships….people like you!

Welcome Neighbor has been a non-profit, social/service organization for women since 1991.    We provide friendship and a ‘family’ for women of all ages and stages in life.  It is important for women to have and maintain lasting friendships, and sometimes new situations in life make that difficult.  Welcome Neighbor provides a variety of activities to please everyone.

There are no commitments and no required participation in any event.  Dues are $15.00 for the year.  Members receive a newsletter informing them of the activities of the month, most are sent via e-mail.

Bowling- Every Monday morning at 9:30 at Bowling World.  Previous bowling experience NOT required.  It costs $9.00/week to bowl.  We meet 33 weeks during the school year (Aug-May) and we follow the Ft. Smith public school calendar.  We have teams of 3 players, and bowl 3 games each week.  We also have substitutes, who do not bowl on a regular basis.  We finish bowling around 11:30, and many ladies get together for lunch.

Golf- On Tuesday mornings at 8:30, a handful of ladies play either 9 or 18 holes. Separate league and green fees $30 are required.

Brunch-  We usually meet on the third Thursday of each month in members’ homes.  She provides the location and others bring potluck.  The brunches are primarily fun and fellowship, sometimes we have a speaker or activity, and we hold our meetings then.

Book Club-  Meets on the fourth Thursday of each month, location varies. The Book Club Chairperson decides on a book for the month, and where they will meet, usually at a coffee shop.  Anyone interested can read the recommended book, and discuss it at the next get-together.  Reading the book is never a requirement of participation.

Supper Club-  This is a quarterly evening event for couples to meet and socialize.  It is held in a member’s home.  Usually, the hosts provide the main course, and others bring sides and desserts.  Singles are welcome, also.

Kids’ Playgroup- This group enables mom’s and their kids to get together frequently for play dates and outings at various locations and times.

Bunco-  An evening event, on the 2nd Thursday of the month in people’s homes.  Bunco is a very simple dice game that involves rotating to different tables, making it a great way to get to talk to everyone during the evening.

Day Bunco-  Held @ 1pm on the last Tuesday of the month, also in members’ homes.

Holiday Charity Auction-  An annual luncheon in early December, this year to be held in lobby of Grace Community Church, Dec. 3rd.  Each member donates a couple of items for a live and silent auction, and the money is donated to a charity selected by the Welcome Neighbor members.  It is our biggest event of the year, friends and neighbors are invited.

Activities-  Almost anything goes!  We have had special speakers, watched movies, painted pottery, traveled to Branson, taken art classes, made lots of ‘stuff’, learned about Ft. Smith, gone to museums and theaters. ETC.  We have lots planned for this year, and would love your ideas.
